We made some kites and painted them all different colours! It was great fun bringing them outside to fly them :)
We looked at some pictures of fish in an aquarium and discussed all the different colours that we saw. We then got to work on creating our own fish designs.
We were given some chalk pastels and some sugar paper and asked to create our very own masterpieces..... These are the results :)
St Patrick's Day Art
We made some headbands for the St. Patrick's Day parade....
There was so much work involved in our spring sheep that there was no time to take photos :( We painted the grass, sky & sun, cut out the sheep, used egg cartons to print the flowers and wrote the names for our sheep. It was a busy few days!! They are on display outside the classroom to do check them out and see the wonderful names we came up with :)
We worked very hard on making special necklaces for Mother's Day. We hope that all our Mammy's liked them and wear them with pride :)
Will you be our Valentine?
We hope you liked our Valentine cards. They were quite tricky to make but we put in a great effort and enjoyed doing it. We were so busy there wasn't enough time for pictures but we got a few....
We made some penguins in art this week. We had to tear up some crepe paper into small pieces which was hard to do but really good for building up our hand strength. We then glued the pieces onto our penguin template. We got to pick whatever colour we liked for the beaks. We are really happy with how they turned out :)
We are Illustrators
We are acting as illustrators for a book about a jungle adventure. We have to read the page and draw an appropriate picture. It is a working progress so watch this space!!!
This week we put together some snowmen. We were given the template of a snowman and we cut it up and put it together just like a jigsaw. We then glued it onto some black card and placed some glitter around it for snow with a difference!!
We made some really lovely Christmas decorations using clay. We had practiced using clay with the the tiles that we did previous so we are pros at it now!! Once we left them to dry we painted them lovely colours. We gave one to be used as part of the Craft Fair but the others will be for our Christmas trees at home!
As we were learning about all different colours we looked at the work of Kandinsky and did some colourful circle trees. We had to be super organised and different colour stations that we moved to when the whistle was blown. It was a very interesting art lesson. We were all so busy that we didn't have time to take pictures of the painting element but below are some pictures of the background shading task and the finished product. We are really proud of them and have them on display outside the classroom :)
Clay (Part 1)
We used clay for the first time! It was messy but really fun!! When we had put our aprons on and got our mats ready we started getting used to the clay by rolling it, pinching it, pulling it and pushing it. We then rolled it back into a ball and flattened it down like a thick pancake! We then got some lollipop sticks and made some markings in the clay! Our final task was to carefully place them in the tray to dry and we will come back to them in a couple of weeks to paint them. Watch this space!!!
We had a lot of fun creating our masks for Halloween. We discussed what kind of costumes and masks people wear for Halloween first and then we got to work designing our own ones. We hope you enjoy looking at them..... Don't get too scared now :)
We concentrated on autumn art this week. We were very busy and took on 3 different tasks. Before we started we had a discussion about autumn and the different colours in the environment during this time of year. Task 1 - Autumn tree - we use colourful card as leaves and glued them on. Task 2- Hedgehogs - we used our fingers to create the hedgehogs prickly back. Task 3 - Leaf prints - we used the leaves we picked up outside to create prints using our crayons. Check out the photos below, we hope you enjoy!
We made some pretty and colourful birds in art. We used our hand prints as the wings and then used lots of colourful crepe paper to decorate the body. It was tough work ripping up the crepe paper but we did have fun chatting while we did it. We had to do a lot of cleaning up afterwards because the crepe paper went EVERYWHERE :) Here are some photographs of us at work as well as samples of our finished products. We hope you like them!!
Free Paint - "Me in School"
We talked about our first 2 weeks in school and painted a picture of ourselves in school. It was our first time using paint in the classroom and it was a lot of fun!
We spent some time practicing our cutting. We learned how to hold the scissors properly and also how to hold the paper when cutting. We then made some colourful zebras to take home with us.
